Since the band's inception, most members were students or had employment obligations, making the band their second priority. In the summer of 1980, the members agreed to make the band a higher priority over personal endeavors. Early in 1980 Ed, and Cal joined the band. Lori also joined at the beginning of the year and left after the summer tour of 1980. In December the band begins a recording project at Sound Ideas Recording Studio in Sioux City, Iowa. The intent was to record six original songs.
